Event Details

Wooden Roots is a traditional folk band from Miami Shores, Florida that plays mostly Irish music as well as an assortment of bluegrass, traditional Canadian, and modern folk. The band was started by Felipe Donati (lead vocals and guitarist) and Andre Cox (fiddler, mandolinist, and back-up vocals) in an effort to place an act in a high-school talent show in April of 2012. Even though the talent show was canceled, the two high-schoolers built a repertoire, performing at open mics throughout South Florida. Now in their twenties, the two young men play gigs for special events and have even played on Michael Stock’s “Folk and Acoustic” radio show on WLRN, Fisher Island, and Lagniappe. In March of 2017, Shannon Murray on the bass fiddle joined the band, offering a powerful lead vocals on select songs and in-depth knowledge of traditional music history. Wooden Roots continues to learn new songs and further develop a unique sound, with the intent of going back to the roots of simple music with wooden instruments.
