SOLAR DOGS

What do you get when you mix two Shrink professors, a Captain and a Judge? The Solar Dogs

The Solar Dogs is truly a beloved home grown band, with a loyal following in Coconut Grove. Much of their music is original, but they also cover an eclectic mix of blues, folk, and other music styles. “Intelligent music.” Their repertoire of Americana and original compositions blends the diverse influences of each band member into what Michael Stock called the “definitive South Florida sound.” Fortunately they do leave The Grove and perform elsewhere in town so we were able to snag them for the FCSF Acoustic Underground Concert Series. This is really a special collection of talent and fine people.

Eric Wagner (Snoopy), sings lead and harmony vocals, plays lead guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Much of the band repertoire consists of original songs written by Eric. He also performs the same material in a different genre with his band E.R.I.C. Originally from Akron, Ohio, Eric is a Clinical Psychologist and Professor at Florida International University.

Zip Robertson (Huckleberry Hound), sings lead and harmony vocals, plays rhythm guitar and harmonica. As a harp player, he frequently accompanies Miami favorite Valerie Wisecracker. As a singer-songwriter, he occasionally performs solo sets at parties and local venues. Originally from Kentucky, Zip is a retired United States Administrative Law Judge for the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals.

Bill Kunz (Goofy), plays fiddle, mandolin and banjo with the Solar Dogs. However, he is also renowned for his instrumental stylings on open-tuned guitar, charango, sitar and other exotic stringed instruments. Bill has been a part of the South Florida music scene for many years, and has accompanied countless other performers. Bill is retired as a 737 Captain for Delta Airlines, but continues to work as a pilot instructor for Boeing.

New kid on the block is Anthony Dick (Rover) on the Doghouse Bass. Originally from Cincinnatti, Ohio, Anthony is a Developmental Psychologist and Professor at Florida International University.

[If you want more, Snoopy sings, plays acoustic guitar, mandolin and banjo; Huckleberry Hound sings, plays acoustic guitar and harmonicas; Goofy plays fiddle, mandolin and banjo; Rover plays doghouse bass.]
