Mandy is a mesmerizing power house singer/songwriter and guitarist from Miami, Florida and has been singing for as long as she can remember being alive. She is the former “front woman” of the eclectic band “The Fortune Tellers”. As a little girl, she remembers already knowing that she wanted to perform and write songs for the rest of her life. She started out singing other people’s songs, being influenced early on by the oldies. Johnny Cash was her first real influence in vocal, guitar and songwriting style. The deeper she got into the oldies, the more she felt as if she had been born in the wrong time. In her early teens, she really fell in love with music from the 50’s and early 60’s, especially doo-wop and the soul and R&B music of the time. The music from that time enchanted her, and still does. She started out as a self-taught guitarist and over time developed her own unique style of playing. Around the age of eighteen, she discovered the true power of her voice. She started to gain influence from powerhouses like Grace Slick, Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, while her songwriting became very heavily influenced by songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel and Donovan. Till this day, she can still say that Cohen’s music reigns supreme in her heart.
