Susan has been painting for almost 30 years, having taken some classes at FIU under the direction of Sandy Winters.
She likes to paint still lifes – objects that catch her eye and allow themselves to become captured on the canvas.
This is especially true of the fruits and vegetables seen in this show. They might have been sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to ripen, or be cut up, and eventually the artist will look at them again and say: “Wait a minute…”
And then the painting begins.
It’s a similar process for the non-edible subjects but sometimes they might have been sitting around the house for years waiting to be discovered.
Enjoy the show.Paintings will be on display until November 15
