About Alexis
Alexis Sanfield was born in Queens, New York, in1962 and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She left Brooklyn in the early 80s to live in Europe, where she spent five years traveling, spending most of her time in Greece, London and Italy. During that time her parents sold their house in Brooklyn and moved to Miami. When she returned to America, she moved to Miami, where she cohabitates with her partner Keith W Rouse. Alexis attended Miami Dade College for two years to study interior design but left her studies to work in the culinary and hospitality industry. In 1996, Alexis opened the Luna Star Cafe in North Miami, FL, which operates not only as a performance venue but also as an alternative exhibition space. In line with her commitment to the local art scene, she has made Luna Star a home for the local visual art community. Alexis has turned the Luna Star Cafe into one of the premiere live music venues in South Florida. All the while she has been quietly working on her photography in her spare time.
