About

Luna Star Cafe has run as a labor of love since 1996. Originally owned by Alexis Sanfield and partner Keith Rouse, they injected their quirks, sensibilities and life experiences into the walls of the cafe. It didn’t take long for South Florida residents or the folk, acoustic, blues and jazz communities to catch wind of this hip hole-in-the-wall. What started as a quiet coffee shop soon became a lively music venue, offering a refuge for hipsters, intellects, lonely hearts and general ne’er-do-wells. One such person was a local melophile named Bridgette Kelley, (known to you as Brie), who began beer-wenching at Luna Star in 2008 while studying nearby at Barry University. In 2025, after celebrating 29 years in business, Alexis and Keith announced their plans to retire and passed the torch to who they knew would continue the legacy. Today, Brie and her partner, Eric King invite the past, present and the future to share in the Luna Star community.
